Perfect Strangers is the very first release of the 1984 concert in Sidney, Australia, marking the beginning of their reunion tour, as well as the beginning of the second golden era of Deep Purple.
Split up while becoming the leading hard rock band of the time with albums like In Rock and Machine Head, Deep Purple rose from the ashes during it’s second golden era, with a lineup including Ritchie Blackmore, Jon Lord, Ian Gillan, Ian Paice and Roger Glover. Later, in 1984, Deep Purple brought the dream team back together for a reunion tour. Now, Perfect Strangers Live brings us the full recordings of the tour’s opening concert in Sydney.
This collection presents you with Deep Purple’s very best. Ritchie’s guitar play, famous in those days for combining perfect technique with an abrasive and edgy sound, shines through on famous hits like Highway Star and Space Truckin’. Perfect Strangers Live also brings you lots of bonus material, including a documentary with precious footage of the time. The limited Japanese edition boasts even more extras, containing alternate versions of some of the tracks performed on the following days of the Sydney concert.
